Hold on to your blasters, folks, we're in for a wild ride! ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment studio, just announced it's working in collaboration with Oculus Studios on a new interactive action-adventure set in the Star Wars universe - in glorious virtual reality.
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, on the outskirts of Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost. Players will get the chance to meet and interact with both new, as well as old and iconic characters in the series in a multitude of gameplay styles and difficulty settings.
Tales from the Galaxy's Edge aims to also create a connection with the upcoming aptly named "Galaxy's Edge" zone at Disneyland Resort (California) and Walt Disney World Resort (Florida). According to Vicki Dobbs Beck, ILMxLAB executive-in-charge, the game "represents another meaningful step" in the studio's quest to transition from storytelling to storyliving.
Scott Trowbridge, Walt Disney Imagineering creative executive, shares that his team is "thrilled fans will have an opportunity to discover new stories, meet new characters and explore new regions of the planet Batuu".
Saying that our team is "hyped" would be the understatement of the century. The QuarkXR office is scattered with various bits of Star Wars paraphernalia and our hearts beat in sync with The Imperial March (just don't tell our physicians).
We CANNOT wait on get our hands on Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge!
